09 November 2019 | 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall - Visit to the border station in Bayerisch Eisenstein
With the fall of the Berlin Wall 30 years ago today, something that was still unthinkable then became reality: German and European unity. The border railway station in the city of Bayerisch Eisenstein became a central site of European history. This is why we met there today with our Czech neighbours in order to reaffirm our friendship. Josef Bernard, District Governor from Plzeň, and the Czech Minister for Regional Development, Klara Dostalova, and many citizens were present at the ceremony.
The fall of the Iron Curtain did not only mean the reunification of Germany, but also a step towards the unity of the European continent. But History has taught us: Today as well, we must stand together to defend justice, freedom and democracy!
